    Pensions are changing

NEST was set up by the government specifically for auto enrolment. It’s there to make sure that every employer has access to a high-quality scheme to meet their new pension duties.

NEST Corporation is the Trustee that runs the NEST scheme. It grew out of the work of the Personal Accounts Delivery Authority (PADA), the agency set up by the government to deliver auto enrolment policy.

As a non-departmental public body NEST Corporation is accountable to Parliament through the Department for Work and Pensions but is generally independent of government in its day-to-day decisions.

Who runs NEST?

NEST Corporation is made up of a Chair and up to 14 Trustee Members, chosen by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in line with public appointments guidance. They’re supported by an executive team and a range of specialists to make sure NEST works in the way it should.

How NEST is run

Being a public body means we have no shareholders and the Trustee has a duty to run the scheme in the interests of members. All the decisions we make at NEST are intended to make things better for the employers and members that rely on us.
