We’ve created easy-to-follow guides to help you understand your pension rights, how to take your money out in the future and more.
Select the guide that fits how you joined Nest, and we’ll walk you through everything you need to know.
For more information on how we handle your data, read our privacy policy page.
Read this guide if you receive employer contributions (PDF) and have the right to opt out.
Read this guide if you asked your employer to enrol you (PDF) and don’t have the option to opt out.
Read this guide if you’ve set up a Nest pension as a self-employed member (PDF).
If your employer enrolled you in Nest but you’re not ready to start saving, you may be able to opt out within one month. But this may mean you miss out on employer contributions and tax relief.
How to opt out
If your employer chooses Nest or you’re self-employed, you can save with us.
Ask your employer who your workplace pension scheme is if you’re not sure you’re with Nest.
Every employer in the UK has a duty to automatically enrol their eligible workers into a workplace pension scheme. Your employer chose Nest to provide a good quality pension for you and your coworkers.

Your Nest ID is a unique reference number that starts with MEM. You can find it in the welcome letter we send to you through the post. To find it in your online account, log in and select ‘My account.’
It’s a good idea to keep your Nest ID safe for security reasons. You may also need it when you contact us.
It can take up to a week after your employer enrols you for your welcome letter to arrive at your postal address.
If you haven’t received your letter or can’t find your Nest ID, you can still set up your online account – choose ‘I don’t know my Nest ID’ when you set up your account.
When you’re enrolled we look to see if you already have a pension with us from joining through another employer or as a self-employed person. If there’s a definite match, we’ll set you up to save into the same pot with the same Nest ID. Use the same username and password to log in.
If we’re not sure, you’ll get a new Nest ID to start. If you think you've had a pension with us before, contact us.
