How do I unlock a contribution schedule for correction?

You can submit a correction if you’ve overpaid or underpaid a member’s contribution. You can do this any time after the schedule has been paid. However there is a time limit until when the member record will be available to edit for correction.

The member record within a contribution schedule will be locked after 23 months from the earnings period end date of that schedule. If their record status is Payment received by NEST, Member corrected and No contributions due.

For example, If the earnings period is 1-31 May 2017, the records in this schedule will be locked on 30 April 2019.

To unlock the schedule for correction, you’ll need to download and complete the PDF form with the required evidence and send it to NEST, Nene Hall, Lynch Wood Business Park, Peterborough PE2 6FY.

You may have to send a statement from an external auditor, an accountant or an equivalent third party. You’ll also have to let us know the name of the member, their National insurance number or alternate identifier for the member’s identification along with the schedule reference number and the correction amount for each record.

We’ll check the evidence you’ve sent, if the evidence is rejected we’ll send you a letter to let you know what other information we’ll need from you.

If the evidence is accepted we’ll unlock the member record and send you a letter to your secure mailbox to proceed with the contribution correction.
