What date should I choose to change a worker’s group?

The date you choose for making the change is important as this determines when the group change will take effect. You’ll also need to know that this will affect when the member will appear in a contribution schedule.

Please note that the date you select to complete the group change must fall on or after the member’s start date.

The date you choose must fall within the pay period, also known as earnings period, of the schedule you’re using to make the change.

For example, for a calendar monthly schedule of 1 – 31 January 2015 with a member start date of 2 January 2015, you can use any date from 2 – 31 January 2015 as the effective date of the change.

The member will move to the new group from the effective date you’ve selected. If the new group’s pay period and/or payment due date match another paid schedule, the member will appear in both contribution schedules. This could mean that a schedule you’ve already paid could show as Unpaid. You’ll need to either pay across the relevant contributions or let us know you’re not paying for the member by choosing Member has insufficient earnings’.
