What happens after outstanding contributions are paid for an insolvent business?

Once you’ve paid all outstanding contributions we’ll collect tax relief on behalf of all eligible members as we normally would. Please note we’ll only be able to claim tax relief if we’ve received the member’s National Insurance number and the tax eligibility for the member is updated with us.

We’ll only close the insolvency once we’ve received all outstanding contributions and we’ll send the members a message to notify them about the insolvency.

Once you’ve paid the outstanding schedules for insolvency we’ll stop the insolvency process.

Once the insolvency is closed your employer account will be disabled and you won’t be able to sign into your online NEST account.

If the insolvency is non-terminal because you haven’t provided an insolvency date the insolvency will be pending until we receive a confirmation from the insolvency practitioner or official receiver that the organisation has become insolvent.

If your organisation becomes solvent before your account is closed it will be restored and the insolvency practitioner or official receivers’ delegate access will be removed. You’ll be able to set up Direct Debit mandates again and continue to pay contribution schedules as normal.
