Do you notify my workers that they’ve been enrolled?

Once you’ve enrolled your workers into NEST, they become NEST members and this is how we’ll refer to them.

Members will receive an email from us three working days after they’ve been successfully enrolled, as long as you’ve provided us with their email address. This will confirm that they’ve been enrolled.

They should receive the email around the same time as they receive their Member welcome pack in the post. The Member welcome pack should arrive within five working days of the member’s enrolment.

The pack contains important information including how to register with NEST and details about how to opt out if applicable. We’ll post it to the address you gave as the member’s home address.

If a member doesn’t receive their Member welcome pack within five working days, they can call us on 0300 0200 090. We’ll be able to check we have the correct details for them and provide them with their NEST ID, as well as information about the scheme.

The member can register their account online as soon as they have their NEST ID. Once registered, the account must be activated through their personal email within 28 days.

Please note, you must still inform your workers of their enrolment into the NEST scheme to comply with your legal duties by providing statutory communications. For more information please see What should I tell my workers about using NEST?

The table below explains the member enrolment process.

Date of member’s enrolment

Three working days following enrolment

One calendar month later

Member welcome packs are generated for all the workers you’ve successfully enrolled.

These should reach the members by post within five working days.

Members will receive an email informing them of their enrolment if you've provided their email address.

Member opt-out period begins.

Member opt-out period ends.

A member can’t opt out and cancel their account from this point. They can only stop contributions. Please see How do I let NEST know if a worker wants to stop making contributions? for more information.
