Manage contributions

Can I use exception schedules instead of contribution schedules?

No, you’ll need to complete your normal contribution payments through contribution schedules. This is because you should be keeping clear business records for auditing purposes.

You should only use an exception schedule when you can’t make a payment through a regular contribution schedule or you need to reconcile amounts at the end of the tax year. Where possible, you should always attempt to make contributions by contribution schedules as this helps you to keep track of any inactive or opted out members. For more information on tracking opted out members please see How do I view inactive workers?

Please note if you’re using exception schedules to correct or add anything that can’t be covered by a normal contribution schedule, you’ll still need to complete and submit the contribution schedule.

If you leave the contribution schedule incomplete you may receive late payment notifications.
