How do I fix errors on my file using file transfer?

If you’ve chosen to ‘collect daily notifications of enrolments’ through your online NEST account, and your enrolment file contains any errors, we’ll send two files to your NEST file gateway. These will tell you which workers haven’t been enrolled and the reasons why.

  • Unsuccessful enrolment file – this lists all the members that haven’t been successfully enrolled.
  • Enrolment error log file – this gives you specific details about the errors for each unsuccessfully enrolled member.

You have three options for correcting the errors at this stage:

  • you can create a new member enrolment file and add corrected versions of the member records that showed an error. The new correct member records will overwrite the old invalid member records but the other records will remain as they are
  • you can save a copy of the unsuccessful enrolment file, correct the errors and resubmit that file
  • you can make corrections to your original file. If you upload an updated version of your original file, you can enrol workers you’ve corrected and any workers who were successfully enrolled the first time will show as errors when we send the return files. You can ignore these errors as the workers were enrolled correctly.

Please be aware that making amendments in an excel can sometimes change the cell formatting. You’ll need to check that the format is correct or it will show as an error.
