How do I change a member’s group by entering information for one member at a time?

You can change a member’s group by entering information manually online. This method is better if you only want to move few members. If you have several members that you need to move, you may prefer to do this via Manage Workers.

To change a member’s group, click either ‘Contributions’ or ‘Manage contributions’ from your Nest home page.

Click the Edit/Pay arrow next to the earnings period that covers the date you want the group change to take effect.

You can search the member by entering their Last name, NI number or Alt.ID. Once you’ve found the member click ‘Options’.

Under Contribution options for this period select ‘Change member groups and pay contributions’ from the drop-down menu. You’ll need to enter the date for the group change and select the group you wish to move the member to.

The effective date you choose needs to be within the contribution schedule you’re using.

If the group change connects the member to a new schedule, you’ll need to enter the contributions amount as zero in the member’s current group. The contributions for the member’s new group can be entered once the new contribution schedule is created within 24 hours after clicking ‘Submit schedule’.

If a member is moving groups but both the groups appear in the same schedule, you’ll need to include both sets of contributions. There will be two sets of boxes to enter the member’s contributions, one for the old group and one for the new group they’re moving to. You can enter zero in the contribution box for one of the groups.

Once you’ve entered the contribution information, click ‘Done’.

Click ‘Save changes’. Once you’ve checked all members in the schedule have the status as Member validated you can click ‘Submit schedule’. Please see What happens after I’ve changed a member’s group? for more information.
