Consultations

Why consult?

In order to help run NEST in the best way possible, we regularly seek the views of interested parties and experts on particular subjects.

One of the ways we gather views on various topics is through consultation. The learnings from these consultations can be and have been used for a range of different purposes including:

  • helping make decisions on creating NEST
  • advising government on designing NEST
  • making changes to the scheme processes or technical information

Who can be involved in consultations and how?

Consultations are open to a wide variety of stakeholders. These include potential members of NEST and members of the public, financial organisations, intermediaries and government bodies.

NEST also engages with representatives from employer, worker and consumer groups.

Consultations completed by NEST often follow a similar format beginning with research in a given area shaping issues and questions.

Stakeholders are then asked to consider these and they are captured in a consultation document. Responses are requested within a specific amount of time and workshop style events can be held during this consultation period to help promote useful debate.

Once any formal consultation period has closed, NEST reviews and thoroughly considers all the responses before publishing a summary.
