How to enrol workers

NEST offers three ways to enrol your workers

  • Enter details directly on our website - ideal for smaller companies with a stable workforce
  • Upload a file - NEST has a template which you can complete and upload
  • Secure file transfer - You can send us a file in CSV or XML formats using secure file transfer. If you start to use NEST ahead of the new duties, we can help you to set this up.

You can find out more about these file formats in the Glossary

How does NEST fit with your existing payroll or HR system?

NEST offers a variety of ways for you to submit data for your workers. We are working with the payroll industry to make sure they understand the new employer duties and how they can best support you.

You may find that entering the data straight into our website works best for you. Another option is to get your payroll software or service provider to submit files with the correct information directly to NEST.

If you decide to use NEST ahead of the new duties, we will work with you and your payroll provider to help the process.

Opt out

After the new employer duties start to be introduced, some workers will have the right to opt out within the first month. This means they can choose not to be a member of the pension scheme they have been automatically enrolled or opted in to.

If they choose to opt out NEST will return the contributions you have made on their behalf, so that you can refund the worker.
